Unbelievable. The Dodgers are off to the White House to Kiss the ring of a criminal.

Declining a White House visit would be the

Jackie Robinson thing to do

For the second year in a row, the Dodgers won the World Series to claim the title as champions of Major League Baseball. With that comes an invitation to visit the White House.

A visit to celebrate with trump would seem, like a public endorsement of the administration and the recent ICE raids by the Dodgers.

The Dodgers’ clubhouse leaders aren't blind. Surely they must feel this.

They can’t be so insulated that they don’t notice the protests in city streets that resemble those near Chavez Ravine. They can’t be so sheltered that they don’t hear the outrage from people who look just like their biggest fans.

This is no longer simply about the rebuke of a president. This is about a fight against a system that consistently has terrorized Southern California streets and recently, in Minneapolis, resulted in the deaths of two American citizens at the hands of agents of the American government.

The players can’t hide from this. The players need to handle this.

And, no, it’s not even up to manager Dave Roberts, who last week told The Times’ Bill Shaikin that he supports the visit.

“I was raised — by a man who served our country for 30 years — to respect the highest office in our country. For me, it doesn’t matter who is in the office, I’m going to go to the White House. I’ve never tried to be political. ... For me, I am going to continue to try to do what tradition says and not try to make political statements, because I am not a politician.” Dave Roberts, manager of the Los Angeles Dodgers

In better times that would be the position most would take. BUT TODAY, it's different. It's not about politics. It's a MORAL issue! It's about bowing down to a corrupt, convicted criminal who couldn't care less about the Dodgers or any other team visit. It's just another photo op for a wannbe king. Like a child throwing a tantrum, he regularily refers to California Governor Gavin Newsom as "Newscum." Such a classless moron.

People need to understand that behind the baseball nostalgia and feel-good slogans, there are powerful money streams connected to incarceration and surveillance.

Mark Walter, principal owner of the Los Angeles Dodgers (and recently the L.A. Lakers), also serves as CEO of Guggenheim Partners, a financial firm that manages over $325 billion in assets.

Dodgers are part owner of a private prison corporation

Guggenheim holds a 0.38% stake in the GEO Group, a private prison corporation that operates U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) detention centers. GEO Group, ICE’s largest contractor, reported second-quarter revenue of $636.2 million.

In addition, Walter leads TWG Global, announced a partnership with Palantir Technologies, the data analytics firm that ICE paid $30 million to build ImmigrationOS. That platform uses facial recognition, predictive algorithms, and data fusion to track immigrants and support deportation efforts.

These financial ties came to light as ICE raids swept through Los Angeles. Despite mounting calls from community groups to speak out, the Dodgers remained silent for nearly two weeks before announcing a $1 million donation to organizations supporting those affected by the raids. A token donation due to pressure.

The Dodgers have also faced criticism for historical displacement. In 1949, the city seized land for Dodger Stadium in Chavez Ravine from a Mexican community, the land belonged to the Mexican-American neighborhoods of Palo Verde, La Loma, and Bishop. In the 1950s, hundreds of families were forcibly removed under the promise of public housing that never materialized.

Many academics and observers has called trump the most "accomplished and effective liar" to have ever participated in American politics.

Commentators and fact-checkers have characterized Trump's lying as unparalleled in American politics, the persistence of falsehoods being a defining feature of his business and political identities. Many academics and observers who study the American political scene have called Trump the most "accomplished and effective liar" to have ever participated in American politics. And by going to the white house the Dodgers effectively endorse and support trump and his lies.

This isn't just about trump either. This is about Tom Homan and Greg Bovino and Kristi Noem and all the other immigration criminals that have brought on so much unfounded havoc, not just in L.A. but around the country.

Declining a White House visit would be the "Jackie Robinson thing to do."

Somebody in a Dodgers uniform needs to stand up for that tradition.

Anybody?
