Trucks are the ultimate symbol of American stupidity. Enormous, overpriced, inefficient, dangerous for everyone else and sold to people looking to project a bullshit image.

A vehicle designed to have a large amount of weight in the back or to tow massive things is going to drive worse than something built just to drive on the roads normally especially when in most cases trucks are doing neither of those things.

The majority of truck owners do not use their trucks for any of the practical reasons mentioned. Also. Separate infrastructure is bullshit. These vehicles are getting ridiculously tall to the point that the short men who drive them can't even see pedestrians in a crosswalk or, in the event they are merging from downhill, entire cars. Trucks are the ultimate symbol of American stupidity. Enormous, overpriced, inefficient, dangerous for everyone else and sold to people looking to project a bullshit image.

"I need a larger, more crash-resistant vehicle." Why? Because everyone else's vehicles keep getting larger and more crash-resistant and I want to increase the chance that I walk away from a crash by ensuring that I decimate the other car. This is the dumbest shit ever, but that's basically assumed when you're talking to someone who owns a truck for non-commercial use.

An item is practical when it is used for it's intended purpose.

A very large number of people that drive trucks in America never use them to haul/tow anything other than their insecurities.

In the denser suburbs and in the city, they can be a problem. They contribute more to wear on the roads, they take up more space, they aren't used for utility so much as they are owned for their "status" and luxury features, they are less safe on the road, and they contribute more to pollution (possibly a drop in the bucket, but still).

There is nothing more pathetic than a man driving a big pickup and trying to park in the front row at the grocery store. The bigger truck the more fragile the boy driving it. Ain't this the fucking truth. The drivers of these trucks are mostly overweight and the only place they drive is to Walmart and back home in time to watch football.

This isn't exactly an unpopular opinion. There is an entire sub culture that hates on the newer model trucks for various, and valid reasons. I've never driven one personally, but I hate any vehicle where you can barely see the head of a 5.5 foot human being, let alone zero visibility of children. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jN7mSXMruEo

America's cars and trucks are getting bigger, and so are their front blind zones. Children are paying the price. READ >>

The intent of slanted hoods and low level front ends of cars is so if/when you hit someone, they will roll over the car and have a better chance of survival. The new trucks will just splatter you all over the place and you will go under the vehicle and very much likey die.

This is why cyclists in particular hate moden truck culture. A lot of these truck owners will use their massive trucks to bully people off the road. These massive trucks have zero business in urban/residential areas. I can maybe see them on the farm, but let's be honest - these trucks are not built to work, they're built to appeal to a macho-man, tough guy aesthetic/alpha male douchebags.

Nobody NEEDS an 8,000 pound truck with a 6 inch lift and beefy tires to go to the grocery store or drop kids at school. Nobody. Manufacturers deliberately changed design and marketing campaigns to target a specific demographic (Honda gets a pass).

Guess who that demographic is?
