The bicycle is the universal symbol for health, fitness, and non-polluting alternative transportation. However, there’s an overwhelming perception that a bicycle is a toy, not a tool, that needs to be overcome. Over 140 million make cycling part of their daily lives, but only a small fraction ride for transportation. There are many groups promoting recreational cycling: bike shops, local parks-and-recreation, and bike clubs, to name a few. There are relatively few voices for functional cycling.
Today we have a climate crisis, global warming caused by the burning of fossil fuels. We created the greenhouse gas emissions that produced climate change, now we can help "un-create" it simply by riding a bike. BIKE SATURDAYS is our signature event. It’s not a race or other form of competition. It’s promoted to encourage people of all ages and abilities to take responsibility for their own health and to provide information about the need to develop serious and safe biking infrastructure. There are estimated 14M families and individuals who own bikes, but rarely ride them because they are part of the majority who feel it’s unsafe to ride city streets.
The relationship between biking and beer is well documented and many started riding simple to enjoy a beer and a burger without guilt and now with a purpose, we are teaming up with the country's breweries to promote the "Bike Saturdays Brew Tour," and put a strong voice against climate change
